Concert Master / Erhu / Gaohu
The resident concert master of Dama Orchestra, Boon We has been instrumental in defining Dama's music performances. He is a leading sessionist in Malaysia. A former National Erhu Champion, Boon We has performed in numerous cross-cultural projects, including the Gambus Musical Fusion concerts and the performances of an award-winning Yamaha Electone-Gao Hu composition. He also led Dama musicians in WOMAD Singapore, Rainforest World Music Festival, Silk And Bamboo Music Festival China, Volvo World Music Festival and Esplanade Hua Yue Singapore Fest and has played in several musical productions, including Reunion and The King and I. A former music conductor of Lee Rubber Chinese Orchestra, Boon We was the producer of Dama's critically-acclaimed recordings Spring Kisses Lover's Tears, Scent Of Autumn Rain and Fragrance Of The Night. His latest CD album production is September Tale, a live recording of Dama's concert tribute to the late Teresa Teng. |
